Glamping essentials for Women

Experienced Glamper, Kimmi (former Manager of Tom’s Eco Lodge), tells us what she would pack for a week/end away.

It’s tricky for us women, especially if you are a mum, to be prepared for everthing (because that is your job), yet seem very cool and un-fazed at the same time by packing ‘lightly’. Luckily when you opt for a ‘Glamping Holiday’ most of the household essentials are already provided - At Tom’s Eco Lodge we make sure you have everything you need for the kitchen and bathroom (although we can’t guess what your favorite shower gel or toothpaste is, so we leave that to you!)

So here is what I would pack:

Torch!

Wellies, Trainers, Flip Flops and Slippers - Yes that is 4 pairs of footwear! However there is NOTHING worse then having hot, cold, wet, achy feet whilst you are glamping it up in the country. No one likes a moaner, so as long as you don’t skimp in this department (and all of your party does the same) you should have a great time, what ever the weather.

‘Mac in a Sac’ - That clever invention that allows you to carry a water/windproof mac with you wherever you go, without having to lug a huge coat with you and completely over heat.

The key to glamping is LAYERS - Bring lots of them (again, you do not have to skimp as if you are glamping in England you wont have to worry about suitcase weight allowances!) Be prepared, however, to have to share your layers with other family members who were not as prepared as you!

A glamorous sun hat (“because IT WILL be sunny” you chant!) I love taking my oversized camel coloured sun hat with me on holiday (it folds up nicely unlike a straw hat) and goes with almost anything! Don’t forget the Ray Bans!

Face Wipes - I don’t think I have to explain why. They are so useful for cleaning your face, and your kids face/hands/table/chairs/toys/feet….I could go on. A good cleansing 3in1 style wipe should cut down your evening anti makeup ritual, and allow you more time to soak up the stars with a glass of wine, or to read that bedtime story.

Mosquito Repellent - If you are glamping near the water or near any woodland this is most advisable so as not to compromise on your late evening alfresco moments. You could be super ‘savvy’ and only pack your bottle of ‘Avon dry body oil spray’ which I have been told works just as well, and also moisturises so you can leave your big bottle of body butter at home! It also smells very nice and lasts, so you may not even need any perfume.

After sun - Because we all get a little carried away.

Savlon or TCP - If the kids/you are running around in the woods you are bound to have some scrapes. This reminds me - Plasters!

Paracetamol - If you are glamping with friends and have one of those morning after the night before moments.

Hairbrush - It can get windy sometimes.

For the Face:

BB cream - Moisturiser? Check, SPF? Check, Light coverup? Check. I recommend Avon’s new BB cream as well, it lasts a lot longer, protects your skin, and smells delicious.

3 in 1 bronzer for face, cheeks and eyes

Lip Balm!

And the rest is up to you!
